for those who don't know whats going on this is from another site ------

I need to ask a favor of you. I need you to give a few minutes of your time to help protect access to something amazing.

On October 1st a subcommittee in the House of Representatives will be meeting to consider the Red Rock Wilderness Act of 2009. This Act would designate much of Utah as "wilderness" and as such forever prevent you, your family, your friends.... flat out everyone, from ever wheeling there again. For example this act would prohibit wheeling in Moab.

I have traveled from my home here in Massachusetts all they way to Colorado and then on to Moab for the express purpose of wheeling. If you ever have the opportunity to wheel in Utah you will be amazed, it is so different from wheeling here in New England that you could just as well be wheeling on the moon. It is an adventure like none other. Given the opportunity, I WILL be going again.

Please Click This Linkand take a few moments to complete the form requesting your state representative oppose H.R. 1925. It is VERY EASY to do and almost completely automatic. Hell, even a caveman could do it! (sorry Geico )

Thank you for taking the time to do this. This bill would steal from you access to an area that is amazing. It is a gift to all of us and we need to fight to preserve it. Even if you yourself never go out west to wheel perhaps your children will. Help preserve their access.

Thank you,

Robert Sutter (Ipe)
President

Dear Grendel:

Thank you for contacting my office and sharing your thoughts with me regarding the America 's Red Rock Wilderness Act of 2000 (H.R. 1925).

I am a proud original co-sponsor of the America 's Red Rock Wilderness Act. It was introduced by Representative Maurice Hinchey on April 2, 2009. It would preserve sections of the red rock canyons of the Colorado Plateau and the Great Basin Deserts in Utah . This legislation has been referred to the House Committee on Natural Resources. As a member of this Committee, I understand the importance of this issue to you. I will keep your thoughts in mind should this bill come to a vote on the House floor.

To learn more about current legislation or about my voting record, I invite you to visit the Library of Congress legislative information website (www.thomas.gov). There, you can find the full text of a bill or a summary, who introduced it and when, who is cosponsoring it, and where it is in the legislative process. I also invite you to visit my website (http://shea-porter.house.gov) for more information about bills that I have introduced or cosponsored, and for issue updates, position statements, or to sign up for my email newsletter.

Thank you again for contacting my office. It is a privilege to serve you in Washington.

Sincerely,

Carol Shea-Porter

Member of Congress
